What determines the permissions for a diskimage?
Like when an app is distributed on a .dmg and you just mount it and then drag n' drop to install.

Cause when I get info on this app (while it is on the distribution .dmg and then after I copy it to /Applications) it says my username (Me) Read & Write, Everyone (no access).
So, it would seem that other users on the system can't even run the app...

I'm pretty sure it takes the permissions of whatever user mounted the disk image. Why are you concerned about this?

The SpiderOak application mentioned above seems to have permissions which prevent any other user from even launching the app.

I'm trying to figure out what is up with that.

Have you logged in as another user to verify it won't launch?
