Just paid $62.00, including tip. Worth it for me.

I'm sure it is. Let me ask, besides the skill of the person doing the cutting, what else does that buy you? Some folks here have mentioned free touch-ups (within a certain period of time, I imagine) - What do you get for your $62, other than presumably a really good haircut?

Great environment, good tea. A scalp massage. Good personal grooming products, Aveda. Just a really nice experience.

Just got back from Tobago. Stopped in at a local barber and had my head and face shaved and my vandyke trimmed. It cost TT$25 (~$4). That's the most he charges. For a basic trim and mark he charges TT$15 (~$2.50). And Trinis think that's expensive!

I got the latest issue of Bon Appetit magazine in the mail. The editor's mailbag column, BA Foodist, suggests that anyone tipping 15% is being cheap. Apparently today you have to tip between 18 to 20% minimum, more if the service is better, that the days of 15% are gone.
I'm not positive I agree with him, in that the tip is still a gift, employers should still not include tips when determining what salary they will pay. This is the difference between the world as it is and the world as I wish it were.
