Who's loving the new iOS? Any haters out there?

My three favorite features:

Easy access to the camera from the lock screen.

Safari bookmarks no longer pop up every frickin time you open a new browsing session.

Japanese Siri: You can't believe it! (my wifey says the Japanese is chotto baka, but it's just day one....)

What I don't get:

AT&T now shows coverage as 4G.

Tethering seems to be doing something on its own - the icon is spinning and spinning, but no off switch, nothing... hmmm.

camera access from the lock screen was available in 5.0 as well.

like the safari bookmark fix.

i'm still checking all the numbers in the battery display to see if all those have been fixed or not. i can't believe that has lasted this long.

Only when double-pressing the home button.

It's always there now, available by dragging upwards.

It appears to be more accurate - I matched it against a couple of battery apps, it now looks dead on.

single press of home, then single press of the camera icon was what i was using in 5.0. no double tapping?

edit: point is, 5.0 introduced camera from the lock screen. just how to activate the camera changed.

Yes: They just made the functionality obvious and discoverable, now.

In regards to the 4G on AT&T, this Macworld article does a good job of explaining it.

The tl;dr version is that the "definition" of 4G has been expanded to include the type of network AT&T (HSPA+) rolled out recently. The key part from Macworld:
Again, though, your iPhone 4S isn’t any faster than it was last week; this label change falls somewhere between semantics and marketing.

Add "statistics" and you get the ability to triangulate your deception as a marketer.

Bending over for AT&T to redefine their 7Mbps HSDPA service as 4G is a joke.

21Mbps HSPA+ is plausibly 4G, since ITU caved on the 100Mbps requirement to let LTE/WiMax be 4G.

yep, I had ATT 3g since the iPhone 4S, I hit 7+Mbps consistently for a few months after that.
Then it began to suck - it's been 2Mbps or less since, and upload is an appalling .08 Mbps. what the heck happened?
lol 4G.

I'm with Verizon. I'm usually on wifi. Culver's was hitting 15Mbps up and down as measured on the speedtest.net app.

One picture says it all: many thanks for posting that test!

Notice the 5 bars of reception? That's ATT 4G speed...

A totally deceptive lie that Apple cooked up with ATT.

Siri in the UK is still only partially functional. I had hoped that the additional functions which only work in the US and in US english would be working now (maps, nearest restaurants, etc.). I guess this is a change they can make at the server end. I thought that it was due in early 2012. Some time before July then?

Yea, it was around 189mb on my wife's Verizon 4S, and about 10mb less on my AT&T 4.

Is anyone else excited about the new 50mb limit for nonwifi app and content downloads?

I've been trying throughout the day to DL 5.1, but the servers must be down/swamped.

Yes, the 4G designation is a joke. I'm appalled. Verizon is probably lobbying them right now to apply 4G to EVDO.

I did the software update directly on the phone, not sure why the size would be so different.

I suspect iTunes will download the full version in order to keep it for full restores. An iOS device will download just the delta.
