They better check all their pictures hanging beyond that door. If even one is a photograph, they're in big trouble.

I wish I could understand the rationale here. The sign might as well say "We're Douchebags"

Some artists are likely reserving the copyrights on their original works. Was it a sale or a viewing?

It's a gallery, so I assume "long-form" sale.

You make a good point. I forget how people like to shoot themselves in the foot over copyright.

I was at a Harry Potter exhibit where they were literally making people delete pictures from their phones if they were caught.

Yeah, homey don't play that. Hip-snapped a bunch of pictures. Didn't get caught.

yeah what's up with all those stores with similar signs.. it's not like people will be able to enlarge the picture with good enough quality to use it instead of buying it..this week I was in a disguise store to buy something for a party for my girlfriend, and there's a sign in the door that says they prohibit photos.. how am I supposed to ask my girlfriend "they have two similar models, do you prefer this one or that one?"

the worst I saw was in nevada and new mexico, the natives prohibits your from taking pictures, video or even sound recording of anything (tree, mountain, plain, etc), unless you pay them.. wtf!

It would have been better if the sign read

NO PHOTOGRAPHY "ALLOWED"

I once got in trouble for taking pictures at Costco, of some furniture I wanted my husband's opinion on. So end result, didn't buy that furniture!
