Hey all,

I've been reading that people have been having some problems adding third party ram to their new 15 inch PB...

Seeing that I'm going go get one of these babies soon, did anyone purchase third-party ram that didn't cause any problems? If so, where did you purchase it from?

Anyone know if these ram issues are more of an issue of the actual machine or the ram itself?

thanks!

I bought my ram at Other World Computing and have not had any problems. I got my new 15" last week.

Remember. if you're a forum user with a new PowerBook, it's a virtual certainty you'll post about anything that goes wrong. But most people who have no problems don't bother posting. They're still the vast majority.

I have found that Crucial is definately the way to go. Their memory is of the highest quality, and their shipping is fantastic. The prices are slightly higher, but well worth it.

And no, I don't work for them.

Are people having trouble with RAM in the PowerBooks?

I started buying from Crucial when I heard that the MDD Power Macs were picky about RAM. I've got Crucial RAM in my new PowerBook and it runs fine.

I had a problem with the first 512MB module I tried (from Ramjet) and replaced it with one from Simpletech. No problems with that one.

However, the Ramjet module works fine in another computer.
