I know they're stupid, but sometimes I just have the urge to "catch the iPod" or "catch the elf" even though I know it's a advertisement

My roommate last year kept getting pop-ups which were cheques for $1,001
He kept closing them & then installed a pop-up blocker.
What was he thinking!?
