I was recommended in another thread to use LS to restrict access of a certain program to the internet, now obviously with LS it asks about every program, now theres a few request from program which im not even sure what they are, let alone if i should be allowing it, there processes are listed below, and if anyone could tell me if i should allow or deny that would be awesome, (im just thinking on a security level)

LS will always ask you about system processes as well, if they try to connect to the OUTSIDE world.

(features differ... troubleshooters care about versions and info and not wasting time).

a process is a process weather its running on 10.5 or anything else, all i wanna know is am i safe to allow it access to the net, i very much dout that 'process x' would be find to allow net access to on 10.5 but not on 10.4

mDNSResponder: the daemon in charge of Rendezvous / Bonjour (allows Macs, printers, etc. on the same local network to find and connect to each other without requiring you to enter IP addresses manually)

ntpd, ntpdate: Network Time daemon (for automatically updating your system clock and keeping it accurate)

nmblookup: for connecting to Windows machines via file sharing

natd: needed for Internet Sharing, if you're using that

named: DNS server.

Something you might want to do sometime might be to go to System Preferences -> Sharing and make sure you don't have any services turned on that you don't need.

thank you very much, i think the reason they have all just popped up is i have just moved back to uni for the first time since setting up LS, so have gone from a wired net connection to a wireless network.
