I haven't started yet, but I suppose I'll start cruising the web. I'm shopping for two kids, one wife, and a variety of relatives.

Any recommendations for unique or out the ordinary gift sites? or great deal sites? etc?

I'm terrible at shopping for neat gifts.

All done, and all bargains via the web. I start buying bits and bobs around October because early December is when the big bills usually arrive (funny that).

I decide what I'm after and then lowball snipe on eBay until I get a winner.

Online. A lot on Amazon, they have tons of kid stuff. For unique sites, we'd have to know more re your loved ones' interests and propensities. My problem is when I have no idea of the latter. I want to give something, but don't know what they might like, ie out of town relatives. So I try to figure out what they like in general, eg wine, food etc, and get them something in that category that is special.

I'm terrible at buying presents for people so when I can't think of anything else I check out personalized gifts. There are tons of small online shops that do custom printing and supporting small businesses doesn't hurt either.

Amazon
Overstock (not as good as it used to be)
deepdiscount.com (some movies supercheap)
thinkgeek
American Science & Surplus : Items Just Off the Truck odds and ends for the geek set

Depending on what you're looking for toys, there are lots of places. I've given up buying lego anyplace but lego.com however. Resellers jack the prices and it's hard to find things. Plus, member points/sales/etc.

allaboardtoys.com if your kid is into thomas the train.
TheToyHunt - toys, video games, puzzles, movies... sometimes has good things, but not the usual stuff.

I mostly do my Christmas shopping right where I'm sitting now-in front of my iMac. For some reason, people seem to get stupider and less polite as the calendar winds down toward Christmas, so my tolerance for crowds also deteriorates...

I do manage to grab a thing or two in physical stores, but generally they're little add-ons, not main gifts.

Online, mostly Amazon. (Except for the local stuff you can't get elsewhere)

Retail prices down under are ridiculous.
