I'm going to pick up a new iPad soon. Wondering if anyone has seen them in the refurb store?

I haven't yet, but don't know if they only make sporadic appearances.

Thanks

Rats, when I read the title, I thought you were stating a fact.

I'd be interested in refurbed retina iPads as well.

After watching the store for a couple weeks, they're really only pushing iPad 2s with 3G. Basically clearing excess inventory of models that aren't for sale anymore. Guessing they'll need to run out of those, get to the point that they're not selling, or have just a giant inventory of new refurbs before we see the new model in the store, probably only $50 or $100 off.

They're in there now. Only $50 off. I'm going to just get a new one with the $50 iTunes card.

What a difference! With a 50 % discount for a refurbished one, it is far better to get a new iPad of course.

Not necessarily. Many argue that refurbs are actually better than new, since each refurb is checked individually (while new only get spot-checked) and since refurbs also have a full warranty.

True, but if your new one is a lemon, you can 'repair' it, aka, get a refurbished one.

Why not with a refurb? Same warranty.

Yup. Pain in the butt, and you still end up with a refurb, even though you paid for new.

Because probably less than 1% of units are lemons, and with being a student you get the $50 back as an itunes gift card. I am all for buying apple refurbed, but when the price is effectively the same, I'll start with new.
