Kevin Costner, Dane Cook, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jack Black. That's all here in Shreveport/Bossier City. Saw Julia Roberts on the street when she had that big production on Broadway.

For whatever reason, they've been filming movies galore in my very "mediocre" area. They're currently filming Oliver Stone's "W" here.

Is it because of all the brush?

I have always been told that the president and vice president never fly in the same plane because if anything happened to their plane it would take out both the #1 and #2 guy. Maybe it's true, maybe not, but it makes sense to me.

Name: Gordon B Hinckley
Significance: Former Prophet/President of the Mormon religion
Location: Joseph Smith Chapel in Salt Lake City, UT
Context: I was in Salt Lake for the weekend and stopped by at that church for sunday service; he just happened to be there for the service also. He was not presiding or doing anything significant in it, just worshiping with the rest of the people. After the meeting everyone crowded around him to try to shake his hand (which I did), but after a bit his two bodyguards helped him escape the crowd.
Comments: Very nice man. Loved by millions around the world.

Do Danish celebrities count? ’Cause I’ve hung out with plenty of those when I was a kid (sort of comes with having a well-known and all-round respected film maker for a grandfather). The only ones I can think of that have had some kind of international claims to fame of these, however, would be Whigfield (who is from Jyderup, about 10 miles from where I grew up) and Lars von Trier (who’s weird).

I live right across the street from Clement Kjærsgaard (Danish talk show host/interviewer/kinda thingy guy).

I also hung out with Take That back in 1993 when they were playing a couple of songs on a Danish TV show (I think it was Eleva2ren). They were very nice guys and must have thought I was a bit wacko, but they were extremely patient with me between sets.

Oh, and I saw and photographed Cyndi Lauper at the San Francisco Pride Parade last Sunday—though I didn’t really realise it was her until after she’d passed and I was looking at the photo.

Name: Tomas Scheckter

Significance:
Tomas Scheckter (born September 21, 1980) is a South African racing driver, born in Monte Carlo, currently competing in the Indy Racing League and the A1 Grand Prix series.
Location: My local RC Race Track and Hobby Store

Context: Funny story, I have been hanging out and racing RC cars the last couple weeks with the guy without knowing who he is. He's pretty laid back and cool. He's intense about racing the RC cars just as much as he is with real race cars.

Comments: I have not been very careful in pronouncing his name, and he has been correcting me. It is "TOE-mas", not "TOM-ess"

Side Note: Actually, I have been meeting a lot of famous race car drivers and not knowing it. Notably, Sarah Fisher, as well as some of Danica Patrick's team members.

I saw Cindy Blackman in concert here at Berklee on October 3rd. I also said hello to her back stage. Didn't have much time to talk though, it was in between sets.

I ran into that Jeff Lewis guy from Flipping Out at Starbucks a few weeks ago. He was glued to his Blackberry.

I did the same thing with Edda from Amiina—played Trivial Pursuit at school with her (and others) for an entire afternoon before realising she happened to be in one of my favourite bands.

Also, according to some of the other people who live here, the male lead singer from the Alphabeat (whom I don’t know, but maybe someone else here does) seems to have either moved to our dorm or be dating someone who lives here, ’cause there’s been numerous sightings of him here.
