With all the parties building self driving cars these days, when can we expect AI motorsport? With no humans in harms way it could be much more entertaining.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

You could just have them race inside a simulation.

It would be interesting if the rules were relaxed on, uh... aggressive driving.

Should there also be be NASCAI?

There may be a fun Rally crossover where the AI gets no map or GPS, and human has to yell shit at the AI.

There's also Formula:A1, which is a big help for a dry steak.

P.S. Do not interpret my silliness as disliking the idea. It's the opposite.

Relaxing all the rules would be the entire point. Engines with so much power they are completely unsafe for human racers.

An AI demolition derby would be awesome.

Was Battle Bots/Robot Wars RC, or AI?

Now I have a vision of the first AI version of Robot Wars, with all the robots activating and then turning on the audience as the transmission feed from the arena cuts abruptly.

We bought our ensuing downfall upon ourselves.

I think this is actually a problem. I mean, robot overlords are a problem, but if things are going to get good, it'll be too dangerous to watch live.

I understand Jamie from Mythbusters' BattleBots entry would hurl competitors out of the ring... right into the audience.

The current BBC series of Robot Wars has had robots destroy the arena, and the weapons now pack so much kinetic force that they self damage as much as they inflict.

Would still like to see something comprehensively dismantle a house robot. I guess teh BBC would frown on that.

I liked Real Steel, and some robot boxing would be interesting. Not sure about demolition derbies - the vehicles would likely get totaled, making it so expensive there might be only one derby per year.

Would encourage a very robust AI core and control systems that could be pulled out and transplanted to any old car quite easily.
