Ah, first off; this is hosted on my comp (0,5 Mbit line) so if it's broken or very slow, I'm sorry 'bout that.

Edit: Posted it on shacknet...

Huge!

Well what'cha think? ...it's just a first preview, a lot left to do...but I got a little anxious to show everyone, can't just pop out a finished theme out of nowhere.

Now...the patternstuff is terrible... hardest thing ever...so some ideas on how to do it without ruining the light transparent thing would be great...

Ah, well...that's it...!

Edit:

Got the perfect toolbar now, but I ain't showin' it =P you'll see in the alpha release.

Cool! That's going to be a ***** to finish, but it should look pretty amazing when it's done. Maybe not all that practical, but very fun.

I can't seem to view the snapshots. Any chance you could upload it somewhere else?

I'd love to see it

Mmhhmm - I love it
Maybe because it is a bit "female" - all it need is pink text in the menus ;-) (just joking!)

The patterns in the Finder window are beautiful!. AND the scrollbars! - nice to see something new here too

The Finder Toolbar could be better - I don't like the brown folders

Otherwise - this is a BEAUTIFUL theme! and if you need a betatester I'm all yours

The Window Titlebar and Scrollbar are very beautiful! Keep it for sure!

I agree that window pattern background need some works. Maybe you could make it very light/neutral blue instead of pinstripes you're using now?

eheh I wouldn't know, I've never done it before so I haven't got anything to compare with...so...what's this hard stuff? hmmm? hmm?

Maybe because it is a bit "female"
Ah...so...me being male makes it...gay?......
The patterns in the Finder window are beautiful!
Ah yes........that wouldn't be the original toolbarstripes you're aiming at, would it?

heh, well anyways, big thanx! glad you liked it...I'm only in the...well...assembling-alpha stages right now but...maybe I'll post some kind of beta here when the time comes...

Cool, the server must have been down. It's my least favorite main FF character on the desktop, but the theme looks cool.

Mmm, it's an Idea, just can't get the color right...but I'll sure keep trying...thing is that it can't take big one-colored spaces...clashes with the details...at least when it's the wrong color

i like it and i like your attitude...you seem to know the the problems asscoiated with the pix you are showing and trying and trying again...

best advice i can give is when the work is done and someone wants to change to a fun theme from their working theme they still want functionality and ease of use...no clutter, and also what every designer learns and seems to have drilled into him/her..."less is more"

keep it up and be prepared for discouragement...

It might look better with a matching blue low contrast pinstripes pattern instead of the white. I think the white stripes is about the only thing I don't like about the theme so far.

I agree with Quandarry's comments. Also, Even though I thought I'd be stuck on a theme like Panther Pro as my only theme, I still cannot stop playing with many themes because the great many telented theme creaters out there! This water theme is wonderful like a real aqua feel. Also, another thing I can't explain, like a like-long now-then addiction to krispy-kreme donuts and KFC's 11 herbs and spices "hare in da south," I keep going back to Apple's Aqua theme. Mayve Steve put some subliminal stuff in there (insert laughs here...).

The transparent title bar thing is really nice.
Not sure about the themes colors thought, but still.

Get rid, please, of the yellow elements, and keep the shapes simple (esp. the title bar). It'll be great.

Mmm, somme great comments, thanx everyone! I think I've got some solid patterns now, kind of brushed metal combined with a waterpattern.
Have to decide weather to make it blue or white-gray though...or both...or maybe use an old-paper pattern instead of the brushed metal... ...ah...right...that's my ideas right now...something has to work...

I also worked out a nice bluestripepattern...but that felt too......computeristic...?
I was thinking of making a dark version of the theme too...and maybe, since not all people have the taste as I, a more clean version...without the fuzzy stuff...might use them bluestripes there...

That's that...

Oh and...what's wrong with the yellow stuff? Think it fits pretty nicely...bringin' some contrast to the blue...what should I have instead...had an idea to have the toolbarbutton like the arrows...

Turned out I didn't like it when it all got transparent.

Well later...

About the release it depends much on how tough the new school I'll go to is...stuff like that is hell...but I hope I'll get the first realease out soon...like...in a week...?

I liked the transparency, but I think that the irregular shape doesn't really fits with a water theme. Not "flowing" enough. Just my opinion though.

I like it, even with the yellow, but I agree that it can do without it.
Any idea what you're going to do about the menu? I know it's almost impossible to make it transparent however maybe something like waves? But not to much of course.
Definitely one of the more insightful/ inventive themes I have seen in a while.

How badly does that titlebar get crunched up with a narrow window, like say an AIM or Adium buddy list?

Tried to make it look as good as possible, a really narrow window will simply have an all-blue bar (only in carbon apps), I think it looks nice, for the ones that are a little wider the caps will be...uh...cut?...but the colors works...
in cocoa apps the left cap is cut in the middle if the window is less than twice the caps size.

'got that?

About the hard on your eyes thing, yeah, it is slightly messy, I'm aware. That's the nature of this theme. But I'm trying to keep it at an acceptable level...

(so I've taken away the blue toolbar)

Uh...and about the release...do you uys think I should release a first alpha without all the buttons and tabs and stuff? Cause it might take time before all that's done.

Putting copyright on a name of a town in a game would be waaay to ambitious, wouldn't it?

To be very honest with you, I like it very much because I was born and grew up by the shore- I'm water freak.. But on this: it's kinda too much for me as a simple person. But keep it up!? I love the work and effort you have put on.

So this is turning into a FFX theme just because of the background he's using? I don't think everyone will be using that background.

Keep it simple.

Truth is I used Final Fantasy X's water theme a lot for inspiration and that's also the reason for the background.

But you are right, it is no Final Fantasy X theme, have a look at the menusystem of FFX and you'll see what I mean.

now...on to those buttons.....

It wouldn't surprise me at all. I could see a gaming company (any software company actually) doing that.

I'd consider shooting them an email to just ask if it would be okay.
