HAHA

Guess he just forgot to delete the channel on his Receiver or TV

Though good idea to block that station... I too have turned off that television station on my digital receiver.

At $9 a pop the guy says he's sold 100 or so. Not bad.

But ya, last time I checked I can block a certain channel from my TV or receiver.

dont turn this into a political thread. besides, if you are going to stick censorship to one group, its got to go to the conservatives.

Now make one that blocks the Bravo channel or better yet, EVERY reality TV show.

Thank Christ. FOX is one ****ed up propaganda channel, I mean "news" channel.

As to deciding what the "left" wants people to watch, go tell that to Bush who forced the Qatari Gov. to sell Al-Jazeera to FOX.

Talk about manipulating the media to suit a particular political voice.

Bush - stifling the truth, any way he can.

The fact that this device has been sold to anyone illustrates the stupidity and lunacy of political extremists. And I would, of course, have to say the same thing about conservatives who would purchase a device to block out CNN.

There's no way this thread isn't going to take a one-way trip to PoliWar. As for censorship, both conservatives and liberals are equally guilty of trying to censor "evil" or "unenlightened" viewpoints. It is unfair to try and pin all the blame onto either one.

As for this device, it has to be one of the most useless things I've seen in a while. Every TV and cable box ever made has a device for exactly this built in. In fact, they have two such devices. They're called the Channel Up and Channel Down buttons, and they work quite well. They can also be used to block many other channels, making them much more flexible than this piece of junk.

Tipper Gore would have something to say about that.

Yes, because Bush owns Fox.

The guy in the article is just an attention whore, who wants to be looked at as a rebel. When all that will happen is, he will get made fun of by most people, and put on a pedestal by the anti-whatever zealots.

Indeed, I would be making fun of them equally as bad.

This is a good example of the whole "Rebel without a clue" thing.

Um...doesn't just about every television sold now have the ability to add/remove channels from the list of ones it receives? I block the shopping/evangelical/fox news/spanish-language all the time. It's called a menu button.

My question is...how does it work?

Fox News can't be the same channel all over the place, so how does it filter that channel out?

Is there some sort of universal identifier on each station? I know sometimes televisions can pick up "meta data," if you will, from stations.

Any clue?

This inventor-guy is a weenie. Reminds me of some guy at my gym who goes out of his way to change any TV that may be on Fox News to CNN whenever he's there.

It's just a two dollar cable filter I dont think it is much of an invention. I was under the assumption that these were only used before the days of digital cable when tuner boxes were not always used but they should block a range of frequencies. That used to mean if FOX was piped in through channel 40 the filter would have to be calibrated to that frequency. But since each cable provider changes the channel they use for each station I am unsure how this filter could be universal to call carriers and still only block one specific station. So I doubt it would work in all markets.

Its a stupid idea for even dumber people.

They are called notch filters. I used to make them myself.

OLN = "Outdoor Life Network" = hick heaven

(these are all from their site ...)

The last time I "watched" the channel almost two years ago, it was more or less a colorful mix of amateurish fishing shows "live from the boat", with two dudes dressed up in Wal-Mart's finest hunting camouflage, sitting in a boat in the middle of a swamp debating the pros and cons of various fishing equipment - funny stuff. Uh yeah, they had rodeo shows as well - just as good as fishing ...

Looking at their current web site though, it seems they have expanded their programming quite a bit. The site even mentions the "Paris - Dakar" rallye - which is cool stuff. Gonna have to check it out again when I get back to the States

That was a repeat from November, it was first aired the Sunday right after the election.

Also, the "inventor" is a goof. All modern TVs can take certain channels off the rotation. I always remove the local Rogers channel and any home shopping ones.

nobody gets the irony here?

- Censorship arguments made by liberals
- Oh, and who are the morons who will buy this guys product? It begins with an 'L'...

Funny Stuff, thanks for the laugh.

I tune out network news all the time in favor of FOX. Doesn't cost me anything to just not watch the liberal slanted news networks.

Naah - not all liberals are dumb. Same as the conservatives - whole lotta decent people with a few loud-mouthed and retarded dipsh!ts sprinkled in for good measure. Keeps the whole thing more interesting - on both sides of the fence.

Whereas I prefer my spot sitting on top of the fence pole, having a good time giggling at either side.

I watch BBC when I can. I most of the shows to be pretty unbiased, though you can still find a few that are slanted (but not to the extent of FOX or NBC.)

I've given up on radio talk show because it's 90% conservative, which really bothers me. If I want crackpot stories and conspiracy theories, I'll check out Art Bell. I tune into NPR often for the Celtic hour and great old-time radio shows.
