Just recently my keyboard has started acting up. The letter keys work all right. The problem occurs when I press shift and a number. for example, when i press shift-8, this occurs (. shift-6 &. Also, the apostrophe key without shift does this : not a typo - actual colon.

I am using a dual USB g3 ibook, first gen 500 mhz.

No spills or drops that I remember.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

This looks to me as if your keyboard is set to German layout. Check system preferences

Then try setting it to something different, restarting, then setting it back to American. If that doesn't help, try deleting the plist file.
