I've been holding off a MBA for quite some time mainly due to price. I'm looking at the refurbs, specifically this one:

http://store.apple.com/us/product/FB450LL/A

Refurbished MacBook Air 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

2GB memory
64GB solid-state drive

$1799.

I'm just wondering how much of the price discount is attributable to it being a previous model? Apple advertises it as 42% off original list of $3102, though I know they aren't selling for that much yesterday in store ($2499?).

So is this the same price I can expect to pay for a refurb new model of comparable specs shortly after they are out or is this heavily discounted because 1) it's a refurb and 2) it's a discontinued model?

Apple always uses the highest original retail price when calculating the discount percentage.

Just be aware of what you are paying for what you are getting. They could tell you it was 90% off. Would that make the $1800 any less? No.
