Hi,
I've read that this works like the gmail-invitations.
I would really apreciate if someone would send me an invite.
Thanks :-)

BTW, The Venice Project is TV over the web, a system created by the same guys who gave us SKYPE.

I really hope someone can send me the invite.

It appears to have been renamed Joost, and they're looking for beta testers right now. To get involved, you can apply here. Seems like an interesting idea if it takes off.

You realize there isn't a Mac version yet, right? And it seems it will only come in Intel form, when it does come.

Does Joost™ work on the Mac or Linux?

We're working hard on a native Macintosh Intel version and expect it to be available in the next few months. Currently the application works fine under Bootcamp but not under Parallels; it needs to access the graphics processing unit (GPU) for some of its operations, and Parallels does not support that at the moment.

A Linux version is also in the works.

Apparently you need an Intel processor with Viiv and a video card with 128MB of RAM so you can stream 480i content.

I dunno. Joost seems like all the bad things about TV (channels with adverts instead of on demand) without all the good things (content).

I signed up anyway. Weird that they didn't want to know what OS you were using.

There are no invites. Sign up to be a beta tester if you want in. Good luck with that though...

Weird, the thank you page after signing up talks about invites...

If there were any, I'd love to try it out on my Macbook: legacyb4 (a) gmail (.) com.

I hope their project fails. (And yes, it's because they will only support Apple's PCs.)

According to the page it's Intel only. I guess I'll be holding out on this one for a while.

I hope developers don't start to Intel only software any time soon.

"They will only support Apple's PCs"? What is an Apple PC? They support both PCs and Macs.

WTF?

He's bitter about Apple switching to the superior chip that Intel provides as opposed to the dated and slow PowerPC chips IBM and Motorola were supplying.

Ooh, now you're really pissing me off. And btw, PC in PowerPC stands for Performance Computing.

You remind me of those rabid Amigans in comp.sys.amiga.advocacy still wating for the second coming of the Amiga and the AAA chipset.

It's time for you to move on and join us on the Intel side of the force.

@Railroader: That's a classic. LOL

Interestingly Acronymfinder gives this result:
POWERPC Performance Optimized With Enhanced RISC Personal Computer

Not saying that that means anything either. Just throwing it out there.

Maybe they didn't think anyone else was interested.

Thanks anyway erik,

I read about Joost and other similar options in Wired last month and it got me pretty pumped. To bad it's not what it could be yet.
