Anyone know if there's a preference in the plist to change the speed which spaces switches? I'm not sure if I'd like it to happen faster, or perhaps just switch without any animation, but it's kind of driving me a little nuts.
Thanks.

Since it's the same speed on my Mac Pro with 4GBs of RAM and my 1.2ghz ibook, I don't think that's the problem. Realistically I don't need to see the animation of the spaces sliding across the screen. It's not annoying when occasionally switching, but sometimes I'm trying to reference something on one space and working in another. Watching the animation over and over gets a little old. I'd turn it off if I could.

I have the same annoyance. I happily used Desktop Manager prior to 10.5 but it doesn't work well with now because Spaces' functionality messes with it. You might try it though, just to see if it works for you. This is an annoying situation since desktop switches used to be absolutely instantaneous while they're now somewhere between "noticeably animated but fine" to "it sometimes jumps three or four seconds after I push the button". And it's purely the animation that is to blame.
