I just ordered one from Apple Online for my Desktop. I'm a little nervous, its a big investment for a used(or just a returned?) display.

Anybody have any experience with Refurbished Displays from Apple? Any words to Calm my nerves will be appreciated and dire warnings will be considered...

I will keep you posted when I receive it, probably monday April 28.

So far the only difference I can find is that in the description for the Refurbished 23" Cinema HD Display it states 160 degree viewing angles while the current new ones show 170 degree's.

This Refurb 23"display must be the last generation of HD Cinema Displays before the 20" ones were introduced.

I'm still researching...

Oh yeah, it doesn't list the ATI Radeon 9000 Pro card that my new DP1.25 PowerMac came with, but it does list the 7500 so I assume mine will work as well.

I just ordered a 23" Apple Refurb from Smalldog,should be here Monday as well.
I can't wait. Same $$ as Apple with no tax,

Mine shipped today so it should be here saturday or monday depending where its coming from.

Along with dead pixels my other big fear is scratched finish. I know the Cinema HD Displays look great but they scratch easily, if its a used one it could be messy unless this is one of the things that gets refurbished?

I'll keep you posted...

Mine has shipped today as well, it left Barre, VT around 8PM, is should be here (RI) Monday.
Apple refurbs, from my experience, are free from and scratches or other surface blems. I've bought a B&W and an iPod.

I bought a refurb 17-inch from Apple a year ago and it was absolutely like new. No dead pixels and not a blemish on the case. Definitely a good deal.

I don't have any experience, but all I've heard about Apple monitor refurbs has been nothing but good, or better. I'm actually in the market for a Apple 20" and I'm absolutely looking first for a refurb. I'm sure you'll be pleased.

JB72, Go to dealmac.com, they have a Smalldog deal on the refurb 20" for $1099.

Well my Display arrived today but I'm out of town and won't be home until Monday. So I can't play with it until then.

My wife sent me a digital picture of the box, it looks nifty but doesn't tell me much!

My part number is F8537LL/A I think the F is for the Refurb and the part number is slightly different then the current Cinema HD Displays which is: M8537ZM/A.

I'm guessing my Display is one of the ones that sold for $3499.00 last year.

I count the minutes until I get home to play with it.

My display arrived around noon, kudos to Smalldog, not Apple.
The display works beautifully.
OTOH, the Apple logo on the casing looks like it was whacked with a hammer, there was glue goo all over the bottom, and the docs were in Chinese. Quite a change from my last two Apple refurbs...

I finally got chance to setup my Cinema HD Display.

No Dead Pixels!

It looks great, but you can tell it's used. The Case is polished but you can see that scratches were buffed out, it does look clean.

The clear sign it's refurbished is the ADC cable it is a little dirty.

It has shiny new silver Apple Logos and the leg in back is brand new.

I am satisfied, I got a good deal.

I'm going to get a DVI to ADC cable and add my 15" Apple Studio Display as a second monitor.

I wonder if there is a way to get my Windows PC to share the Cinema Display? It has a Radeon 9700 Pro in it, and would look great using the Display!

I forgot to follow up. Opps.

I did end up getting the 20" display. Wow!

It has one stuck pixel, blue, but it rarely noticable at all, unless I'm looking at all black. Even then it's hard to spot with such a small dot-pitch.

It looks great with my 17" riding shotgun. They line up perfectly.

The best way to purchase a refurbished display in not through the online store, but at an Apple retail store if at all possible.

This is because they will actually take the display out of the box and connect it to a Mac, so you can see if there are any stuck/dead pixels or any cosmetic defects.

This is something Apple does not do with a brand new unit.

I've been at many Apple stores around the country and there have been several units at each store they were willing to show me.
