Hey,
Im looking to modify the default "Away" status in iChat, im hoping this is in a plist or some editable file, and not built into the actual application itself. Has anyone tried this or does anyone know where this file (if there is one) is located? Im gonna try using resorcer to modify it see if I get anywhere.

Also does anyone have incoming message sounds coming from iChat with iTunes open even though there are no incoming messages?

The "Edit status menu" option in the popup menu doesn't work for you?

Yeah, you can customize your own away messages in iChat by using the pull down menu. Not sure if you want to do something different though.

And I've never had any oddities with iChat sounds while playing music in iTunes.

No, I mean like sometimes iChat will change my away message (I always have my away message on even when im talking) to "Away"... You cant change it in the edit status menu panel, So Id like to change it so when iChat puts it on "Away" again instead of "Away" it would be whatever I want it to be, get what im saying?

No I don't. But I have lots of "away" messages, like "to the shop", "having breakfast", whatever you type in the "cutom field".
It's very simple and looks virtually unlimited.

It will? I've never had that happen once I set to what I want it to be...

The only time iChat sets my status for me is if I'm idle for a certain amount of time, and I don't already have something set. It will list me as "Idle".

That's a setting which can be changed as well.

You're doing pretty well then. My version of iChat keeps on changing "Away" to "making love with flapjacks"...
