I didn't.... Can't afford to have something go wrong with it, bear in mind apple won't touch it if it goes wrong!

I didn't, only b/c I was out of contract with T-mobile and AT&T seems fine as a carrier in the states so far. Plus, haven't seen anything compelling in terms of applications that would require me to Jailbreak my phone.

So, long-winded 'no.'

Unlocking seems to be less popular among the Mac faithful than among those who don't own Apple computers.

I certainly didn't unlock mine. I'm happy with AT&T, in general.

I'm NOT happy with AT&T, but haven't jailbroken. If the exclusive period were to end suddenly, I'd probably even eat an ETF to bail.

this "friend I know" unlocked his because he doesn't live stateside and there still isn't a legit iphone in china...

but sometimes "he" wishes he didn't have to... it sure would be nice to have real visual voicemail, and not pay another higher price for data.... but once "he" gets back to china internet will be dirt stinking cheap...

"he" just fears every upgrade from here on out.... hope the unlock holds

also when "he" was unlocking it... had a couple of freak outs... it didn't work the first 5 times... just froze... wouldn't even boot without "cant parse, error, command not found" etc...

I just like to screw with it, so I've gone back and forth between locked and unlocked. Usually it takes the theme of:

1. Oh neat - something new on the Installers program
2. Jailbreak
3. try it out; isn't necessarily all that
4. something else doesn't work right on my phone (battery life, whatever).
5. re-lock.

Currently: locked.

i unlocked mine even tho i am a devout mac lover. i unlocked it to give me all the things the iphone didnt whilst locked.
1.native apps without the need of internet
2. landscape texting and email
3.ichat, aim, etc.
4.save contacts to sim for use in other at&t phones
5.games, games and more games, snes, game boy, genesis, solitaire, etc
6.wallpapers on home screen
7.custom system sounds, free ringtones, etc etc.

it goes on and on and at any point a problem may arise ( which NONE have ) i just do a restore through itunes and go to the nearest apple store.

oh and the last one, the jailbreak community already has the hands on ispw v1.2 aka v2.0!

Ya all this "voiding warranty" claims are silly. Pretty much no matter what you do to the iPhone it can be easily restored to factory settings and Apple is none the wiser.
