im making a website exclusively with flash mx
its for a friends band,
and they want visitors to be able to doenload some of their tracks

is there a simple bit of javasript or actionscript that will enable a visitor to download an external file from within the website?

any help much appreciated!
googling download and flash isnt very helpful! he

usually just linking to the file will download it.

am i missing something?

when you link directly to a file it just tries to play the file in the same window
which is a bit annoying!

add "target = _blank" to the link, opens in new window

rather than opening the file,
i just want whoever clicks on the link to download it straight to their computer

not quite as clean as a straightforward download,
but it does the trick!
