Yes, and it's very efficient if you work with a lot of tabs.

Anyone really take that story seriously? 80 IQ is literally quite retarded.

No, it's not. It begins at 70, so I suppose 60 would "quite" retarded.

80 is disabled according to the chart I'm looking at. 60 is absolute fully disabled. Anyone with an 80 IQ is quite retarded for my money, but that's my view.

I've dealt with a few individuals recently with IQs between 70-80 and I can assure you, while they may not on the surface appear retarded, their ability to piece together basic common sense is nearly impossible. They were kids in my home. Basic abilities to understand logic, symbolism, similes, sarcasm, and putting two basic pieces of information to come to a accurate conclusion just are not there.

Here is a perfect example:
Girl 15 years old IQ 76: "He is so mean!!!" (sobbingheavily)
Me: "I'm sorry, what did he do to you?"
Girl: "He calling me names and insulting me."
Me: "Tell me what he said."
Girl: "He called me a boy!!! I am NOT a boy!"
Me: "OK, let me ask him about his action."

Me: "What did you say to her to hurt her so badly?"
Boy 14 years old: "I have no idea."
Me: "Well, you obviously hurt her, what did you say?"
Boy: "I did not say anything mean, I swear."
Me: "Tell me what happened."
Boy: "Well, we were playing football, and she's very good by the way, can throw a football better than most guys, and all of a sudden she's mad, throwing the football and people and wailing at us."
Me: "Tell me the exact words you had during the football playing."
Boy: "Well, the usual football stuff... 'throw me the ball', ... 'wow, you throw that well', ... 'you throw just like a boy' ... that's about it."
Me: "OK, I think I know what happened."

Me: "Here, throw me this football, I hear you have quite the arm."
Girl: "I have two arms."
Me: "Ok, good, throw me the ball with your best arm".
Girl: "What do you mean, best arm?"
Me: "Never mind, just throw me the ball the best you can."
Girl: [Throws ball better than most HS quarterbacks]
Me: "Have you ever heard the phrase 'you throw like a boy'?"
Girl: "Yeah, that's what they said to me, it is soooooooo mean!!!"

Me: [At this point I go through a very simple explanation that it is a compliment and they were being nice, not mean]
Girl: "Oh."

Two weeks later, nearly the same exact incident happened again. And then again a few months later.

When dealing with kids with low IQs I keep the conversations as simple as I can, instructions written down step by step, and no sarcasm or dry humor whatsoever. One thing I have found though, is when they can do a basic chore or job (shoveling snow, digging holes, washing dishes) well then that are the least likely to complain and usually work extremely hard and feel a great sense of accomplishment when they are done.

Most have coping mechanisms of dealing with and hiding their hinderances. They absorb what's popular instantly, they are often heavily into fashion, and they instantly grasp onto friendships and will call someone they have known for a few days as the "absolute best friend they have ever had".
