I ordered a PB 12" refurb last Wednesday and didn't get it. Apple just phoned though and they have some now. 844 including VAT and Delivery so I'm well chuffed.
On the memory front she said it was the 256mb model I ordered originally. I assume that's 1 slot taken leaving me a slot I can add a 256 or 512 stick to?
Edit: Think I'm wrong on the RAM. I believe it's 128mb on the board and 128mb in the slot? I guess I need to order a 512 then.
Edit 2: She confirmed it's 1 x 256 DIMM. The day gets better... Just ordered an extra 256mb for now until I can afford the 512mb. Now I need a case...

If it's a 867Mhz 12" PB, it has 128MB onboard and 1x128MB in the slot to make 256MB. Only the new 12" PBs have 256MB onboard...but congrats on your find!

That's what I thought but I phoned to check and she's adamant it's got 1 x 256mb which is cool. I hope so as I've just ordered a 256mb!

Man, I promise you I know what I'm talking about. If your 12" PB coming has an 867Mhz processor, there is no way on the planet it has 256 onboard, period. It has 128MB onboard, and a single user-accessible slot in which you can add a RAM stick. If your PB coming in a new 1Ghz model, it has 256MB onboard along w/ one user-accessible RAM slot.

I'm not doubting you at all, but remember this is a refurb machine so that may make a difference? Is the 128 actually soldered on the board?.

It won't make a difference, refurb is still the same model as all the other 867Mhz 12" PBs. And yes, it's soldered onto the board, can't be removed, and there was no other option to get anything other than 128MB soldered onto the machine's board.

Yeah just found that info. I'm annoyed now. Hopefully I've cancelled my order for the 256mb stick in time... she was really helpful but obviously didn't know what she was talking about!

Yeah...hopefully the cancellation will go through. Order yourself a 512MB stick to max it out at 640MB of RAM.

That's the plan. Shame the 512s are treble the price of the 256s though.

Max? Read my newly corrected sig. Got it for a GREAT deal. BTW, it does make a difference, I was surprised.

That's a great deal on the 12 - I assume it's combo rather than superdrive?

You can "max it out" to 1152MB by using a 1GB module.

Ordered it Monday and it came Wednesday - well impressed with service. As for the Mac - it's FANTASTIC!. It has 2 iffy pixels but for a saving of 450 I can live with that
And to top it all I've managed to sell my G4 tower for a good price too.
