I've gone to "System Preferences" and there's nothing there that allows for setting the firewall. I see your screen but, ***How do I get there?****

Note: System Preferences has a handy search field in the upper right-hand corner - in the future, you can just type what you're looking for - for example, "Firewall" - there, and it'll show you where to go.

Since you have Tiger: For fun try the search field in the System Preferences. It will highlight with a "spotlight" the PrefPane you need to go to for those settings.

Just to prevent potential confusion in the future (if the OP is reading other posts). Control Panels are what you get on Windows and the Mac OS prior to OS X. In OS X the term is System Preference.

Sorry, I thought the "Sharing" window title made it obvious. Glad you to see you found it.

How exactly does 'sharing' make one think 'firewall'?

It really should be under 'network'.

No, he meant the "Sharing" title in the screenshot indicated that he was in the Sharing preference pane.

I also think Apple should rethink the Sharing and Networking titles for those preference panes. Network is the most approiate for both.

i guess its a limitation of the highly generalised category system they've gone with for the system preferences as opposed to the fine, though less cohesive, grain control panel system from OS 7 ish onwards.

My bad. But my opinion on the naming scheme/placement still stands.
