I just bought a Mobile Me account and I want to backup three things with it:
my work mac
my home mac
my iphone
How do I backup all three without overwriting (or intermingling) data? I guess I'm going to use separate folders in iDisk for the computers, unless there's another option... but I'm still worried about data overwriting.

You don't need separate folders. When you sync manually (from the MobileMe System preferences), you select which device's info to store to the cloud and whether to overwrite or merge data. Just do a manual sync and you'll see the options available as it proceeds.

Yes, but I don't want to overwrite or merge data... I want a separate area for each computer. Is that a possibility?

I don't understand. Are you talking about just backup?
The idea of syncing is just that: syncing the same data to multiple locations. If you're talking about backup, use Time Machine locally or the Backup app ( http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...backup312.html) to your iDisk.

It seems that keeping data from all three devices totally separate defeats the purpose of push.
I would recommend keeping data "separate", for example, by using separate work and home calendars in iCal. Then, allow all info to sync across devices. That way you could still easily check your work calendar from home, etc.

I've installed Mobile Me at home but I get an error saying that my iDisk can't be accessed... error code 1401, which apparently means nonexistant file. Is there a way to get around this without having to completely until MM from every Mac I've got it on and starting over?
Mobile Me is quickly becoming a Mobile Headache.

MobileMe is designed to do exactly the opposite of this...

Does web-based iDisk access work?
