Just wondering if your dual G5s are still shipping by end of August / Early Sept. The reason I ask is that a few people are reporting their ship dates (from orders the day of the announcement) are being pushed back to the end of Sept. Is this true?
It seems the single G5 orders are still on track for the end of August shipping date though.

Yeah, my 1.8 is still on or before 8/27.
That's still a long time to me...I couldn't imagine waiting for the end of September, especially since I need* this machine for college.

My 1.8's ship date is "On or before 08/29/2003". My original ship date was 9/2 or 9/3, I think - I don't have my original print out hand.

Interestingly enough, my shipping date was "On or before 09/01/2003" and now it's changed to "On or before 08/29/2003." Heh.

Yeah, I went through the edu store and mine is quoted at a whole two days earlier than the average. Yay.

Hello ...
2x2.0 to ship "On or before 09/02/2003".
That's been the same since I placed the (Education Institution) order a day or two after the G5s were announced.

I just ordered mine tonight, where does it tell you the exact date of arrival? Mine just says 7-10 weeks.
I ordered the Dual 2ghz, added Airport Extreme card, and removed the
SuperDrive.

Just checked my dual 2Ghz order on apple's website. The order was cancelled!! Then, I realized there is a new order with the same spec(no modem) placed at the bottom of the page. The shipping date for the new order is still 08/29/03. Don't know what happened. I almost had a heart attack when I saw the word "cancelled". Did anyone experience the same thing?

mine just says 7 - 10 weeks.
Anyone know if the UK ones are still being assembled in Cork, Ireland? As that usually means i get one quite quickly.
I was quoted 40 - 50 days for my Original G4, got it in 3 days tho! And i ordered it the day after it was released. Heres hoping the G5 is delivered that quickly!

So the guy with the Sept. 25 shipping date called, and Apple told him it was wrong, and it should come by the end of August. Strange.

I woner if my delivery date of 9/29 or before is because I also ordered an Airport Extreme Card.
The salesperson at Apple told me that they install the airport card, just wonder if stock configured orders without any extras are shipped first.
If that's the case I can easily install it myself.

My Apple rep said that the reason for the cancellation/replacement of some orders was for "internal part number changes".
FWIW, keyboard and mouse numbers seem the same for the old and new order. (but perhaps internally there's a new model? oooo. haha.)

I ordered mine July 20 and it says expected ship day 9/30/03. It was a built to order machine (no modem, airport extreme). Man, I can't believe I will have to wait until the end of September.
On the bright side, my 20" display came yesterday which I hooked up to a powerbook, wow, what a difference.

Yep. Me too. From comparing the two orders, it looks like the part number for the keyboard/mouse has changed.

Perhaps you're mistaken. I'm looking at two G5 orders I placed, that were cancelled and re-placed... the KB/Mouse part numbers are both the same: 065-4161. So no, that did NOT change. But...
P/N 065-1245 DID change to P/N 065-4650.
I didn't order whatever this is, so it just says "none"...

Ugh. Feel my pain... I ordered a dual 2 on 7/23 and my estimated ship date is 10/2/03!
*sigh* That's what I get for waiting, I guess. Just have to wait some more.

I could be off base but I wouldn't be surprised if those with end Sept/begin Oct. shipping dates actually ship quite a bit sooner, thats if any G5's actually ship by the end of August.
If Apple's shipping quotes are anything like Dell's you can take the quoted date with a grain of salt.

Striker100 - actually... I needed servers. Apple quoted me a ship time of 7 days for 5 Xserves. Got 'em in 4 days.
On the other hand, Dell quoted me a ship time of 10 days for 5 PowerEdges. Got 'em in... 32 DAYS!
Guess I had to take that with a REAL grain of salt. Boooo! =\
