i just moved to the UK, and brought my US powerbook along with me.

i know that the power supply is dual voltage, and have just been able to buy a pin converter to plug into UK plug outlets. however i've noticed an annoying high pitched buzzing sound coming from the socket when the powerbook is plugged in, particularly when it's sleeping. since i'm going to be here for several years, i think it would probably be worthwhile to invest in a more permanant/safer solution.

i'm guessing that all i need to do is find a wire with a uk plug at the end that fits into the slide-in corner of my power supply, right? i can't seem to find one of these ANYWHERE! i looked all over ebay and on apple's site, and it seems that all i can buy is the whole power supply.. which is way too expensive considering i already have one.

i don't particularly want the world travel kit either, because it's expensive and all i need is a UK plug. the wire itself is probably worth no more than 5

does anyone know if it's possible to buy just the plug? thanks in advance.

I think the world travel kit is going to be yor only option. I know you don;t want to spend that much since you only need the UK plug but if you are going to even use that one for several years i think you will get your money's worth. Another lus to getting it is you will have plugs for most of euope shold you decide to travel about.

The world traveller kit is your only option.

Buy it then sell the adapters you don't need on eBay.

There is another option.

The Apple power supplies accept the standard 'figure of 8' plug that you will find on most HiFi separates or other electrical goods.

It won't look as complete as the official apple version, but I'm sure you can get a UK cable from any good electrical retailer.
