drastically slower app. launch time suddenly

	apologies if this has been covered but I didn't uncover this with a search. PB 667 (gigabit ethernet) 10.2.2. No HP drivers.... A few weeks after 10.2.2 I had some weird behavior - occasionally an app. would take extremely long to launch - say 25 "bounces". can be any app - has happened to a lot ranging from terminal to stuffit expander to excel. subsequent launches are fine. this can occur really at any time - it's not, for exmple, only on the first launch since log-in. I have: 1)repaired permissions 2)made sure energy saver is not putting the hard drive to sleep. any thoughts?
