Okay i have recently be kinda sick of my normal music, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Pink Floyd (if you can belive it) and so i am finding my self looking for some great classic songs that are just made to be played loud, and loud i mean really loud the kind of loud when your door is closed you can still get 90 db 4 doors down .

Now my current favorite song has got to be Money For Nothing by Dire Straights. When its on you just have to crank it up. I have also dug around DC and found a ton of Queen Bohemian Rhapsody We Will Rock You and a ton of others,

So my Question is what are some of the ultimate Classic Rock Song that you just have to crank to 11 I could give a rats ass about rap and other new Hard Core, they all sound the same to me. I would love to get a bunch in a playlist and just let them go.

Thanks

I GOT WASTED WITH PHIL SHERRY!!!

"Money For Nothing" is basically "Jumpin' Jack Flash" with new lyrics, but the Stones rock much harder. I would recommend that or anything else from the Stones' middle period - the Beggar's Banquet and Get Your Ya-Yas Out albums are personal favorites. And you can't go wrong with Led Zep's first two albums. The Stones and Led Zep set the standard.

Other classic rock favorites: ZZ Top's "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide", Neil Young's "Like A Hurricane", Bowie's "Jean Genie" (and the whole Ziggy Stardust album), Lou Reed's Rock and Roll Animal album.

And the Stones.

In my opinion, The Replacements are a band that have to be played as loud as you can stand it with just a little ear bleeding and eardrum ringing when you turn it off. Classic electric guitars, pumping bass, punching guitars. And the voice of a guy who has screamed a few gigs in his day.

Good old Mid-West Rock 'n Roll.

I listen to all of that (except NIN) and I recently have been doing the same thing. Led Zep BBC stuff is so nasty. Once you listen to that you will be in love. Also Jimi does some nasty BBC stuff as well.

I like Boston, CSNY, Doors, Journey, King Crimson (nasty ****, if you like Floyd I think you would like them . . . opened for TOOL ), Queen

You might try some punk, I have found that some of it is not bad: Dropkick Murphys and others.

On a side note, Mike Patton . . . really get down and listen to all of his stuff: Faith No More, Fantomas, etc. Grab some cool live FNM off ftp.bunglefever.com (public ftp, try during non-peak hours).

Stevie Ray Vaughan (IMHO The Best Guitarist Ever...)

Rory Gallagher (RIP )

Cream

Derek And The Dominos

Jimi (Of course)

Led Zepellin (My cell phone plays Black Dog when it rings )

Albert King (Truly Awesome!)

Deep Purple (Machinehead)

Jeff Healey (First 2 albums only... strange choice but they rock!))

Or for me, being a Blues guitarist (failed) any of the following: Freddie King, Albert Collins, Junior Wells, Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters etc etc)

Peace,

Marc

You could add 'Thunderstruck', 'Big Gun' and 'Whole Lotta Rosie' of theirs as well...

Also what about some Van Halen!! Eruption or something...

For me, the quintisential 'Rock' album of the last 15 or so years has to be GNRs 'Appetite For Destruction'... That record has some serious balls.

That whole damn album. Bon Scott did the devil's work, and he did it so well.

My picks:

Back in the Saddle by Aerosmith

Rock Bottom by UFO

The Cowboy Song by Thin Lizzy

Medusa by Trapeze

Precious by the Pretenders

Roads Girdle the Globe by XTC

Red by King Crimson.

If the cops haven't come 'round by the end of that list, you need a louder stereo.

Damn straight. Paul Westerberg could smoke, drink, sing and probably shag a groupie all at the same time. Go search for IOU or Alex Chilton by the Replacements, and play it loud.

Or, for extra special 'Mats fun, go find a copy of Stink. With songs like "God Damn Job", "White and Lazy" and "Dope Smokin Moron", you just can't go wrong

I agree, that album was an instant classic...

These aren't "classic" rock, just stuff that sounds good played really, really loud:

Ace Of Spades - Motorhead
Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) - Metallica (best bass solo I've ever heard)
Caught In A Mosh - Anthrax
Brand New Skin - Everclear (Actually, scratch that, just go out and buy "Sparkle & Fade", the whole album is fantastic)
Blind - Korn (Amazing tempo)
Der Kommissar - Falco (Sorry, just wondering if you were still paying attention)
Plowed - Sponge
Ruby Soho - Rancid
Timebomb - Rancid
Sean Olson - Korn
Hey Man, Nice Shot - Filter
Suck My Kiss - Red Hot Chili Peppers
F*ckin' Hostile - Pantera
What You Need - INXS

I'll just throw out some 60's ear candy that I have in iTunes that I think are worth cranking. "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane, "Memphis Tennesee" by Johnny Rivers, "All Day and All of the Night" by The Kinks, "Honky Tonk Women" by The Rolling Stones, "Crimson and Clover" by Tommy James and the Shondells... oh, don't underestimate the guilty pleasure of "Legs" & "Sharp Dressed Man" & "La Grange" by ZZ Top.

That AC/DC song, I think its called back in black? That'll shake the windows a little bit.

Creedance is a good classic rock band, but they're not really in the same category as the harder stuff. But every thing has its antithesis, and CCR is nice to listen to.
