Has anyone gotten a CRW4416SX to burn using Toast in MacOS X 10.2? It's an external SCSI drive, but I can't get it to be recognized as anything more than a plain old CD-Rom. I would have hoped OS X would have gained support for the drive by now.

Any help is appreciated.

i've got the same burner, and have had very random success getting it to work.

last time i installed the El Gato software (even though they say it's not needed in 10.2 etc) it was recognised, and i have burned discs with it.
the url is here...

gonna try it again with mine (just reformatted the mac) and report back

I popped on the El gato thingy, and it recognized the drive, so I burnt a disc. Only problem is that when the disc was finished burning, it wasn't recognized by MacOS X.

I burnt three CDs from the SCSI drive (its an external btw), and when I try to open them on the same system, I get nothing.

I brought them to my iMac, and two fo the three showed up with MOST of the data (one of the CDs was missing one directory).

I dunno. Progress I guess.
