appleworks : an I/O error has occured

..any idea what that means ?
..i have loads of old appleworks files 94-98 and my imac can't open them , it says I/O error occured
???
10.3.3 and 6.2.9

..ignore this , i just realised hwo to get round it
..option click the appleworks icon and it gives you the package contents , then drag the classic appleworks icon to the dock and use that

Just found another way to get around this. I dragged the appleworks file icon onto the Word icon in the dock and Word opened it up fine for me.
