I saw this twice on either Discovery channel or History channel. There is a very old painting (1700s or something) of a religious scene, possibly of Jesus himself, in which there is a UFO in the background. I'm trying to find a picture of it. If I recall, it was a night scene and the UFO seemed to be travelling from right to left. It was not shining any kind of light beam down or anything like that.

gorickey, no I found that one. It's not it due to the beams of "light".

ambush - do you remember who the painting was of or who painted it? I'd love to find out more about it so that I can speak intelligently when I mention it.

It may be "The Crucifixion" on that page. That seems close enough for my memory, but I though that there was only 1 UFO and that it was on the right and that the painting was portrait layout rather than landscape. That's a great page though. I was searching first for religious paintings rather than UFOs in ancient art. That gives me some great leads to look into. thanks!

yeah. I got into a deeply philosophical discussion with someone and this topic came up. Scary? I'd say definitely interesting and fascinating but not scary to me. yet.

The one from the History channel is "The Madonna with Saint Giovannino," available on this page.
I saw the show a while ago, but I remember it quite vivdly. Notice the dude in the background staring up at it.

I've got links to a number of sites on this topic, but it'll take me a bit to find em.

Have a read of Fortean Times' website, they talk about it a bit in their forums.
