Yikes, this kinda...sucks.
I do appreciate them taking the time to try something new, however.

Yeah, interesting concept...I think one of the problems is that any 3D file browser is such a take-off from conventional file-browsing that it is going to take a fundamental change in how we view our file systems in our minds for it to really take hold. In the meantime, it is kind of fun to play with for a little while...

I am quite interested in these endevours
I think that there is a correlation between 3D file browsing and transparency (longhorn) and touch screen...whatever that nobody has quite figured out yet...
ie a more physically intuitive/gamelike interaction design...
But I have tried this and it's just not quite there...I am not sure altogether why...
maybe the 3d Mapping, maybe the processor speed...
?
Beats me, but I am glad people are doing this work

Who needs a file browser now that we've got Quicksilver? (And soon Spotlight.) Takes a fraction of a second to find something using QS, and I've even taught my parents how to use it (which is saying something). No more shuffling through dozens of damnable folders anymore.
I tired this out a few days ago though it was pretty neat, much more usable than 3DOSX. Still, I think typing-based-searching will easily take over the OS arena within a few years, because it's too darn efficient to ignore.

yeah, you can just trash Finder, dont' need any of this file browser nonsense now that QuickSilver is so good.
yeah, right...
i can't get QS to search my stuff properly, and even if it could find any document i wanted, there would still be need for a file browser, for instance if you want to see all of the files relating to a particular project.
and since there will always be the need for a file browser, might as well have some sort of easy to use, intuitive 3D browser...
