There's a lot of commotion over Apple's move to Intel processors. People are reading it different ways, jumping to conclusions and threads are getting quite log.

A forum reader like myself who's looking for answers to some specific question without sifting through all the multipaged thread would really appreciate a FAQ on this subject.

Why the switch? What's different about the two architectures anyway? Why is everyone dissing the x86 chip exactly? Aren't they stuck at a speed barrier as well? Will IBM never produced another Apple chip? Will OS X eventually wind up on any old cheapo pc? Will Mac's be able to boot windows? What will the transition really be like? What's this Rosetta thing mean for us average users? What was Steve's timetable again? products in one year or two?

Should I buy a mac now or not? Or any Apple software? What about Leopard, will that boot on current Mac's? What's special about that anyway? Is there anything else I missed?

etc...
