I'm new to MacOS X and was wondering about Easter Eggs: Are there any? Where are they? How do you trigger, etc. Post all your easter egg goodies in here. Thanks.

Steve put a memo out a year ago saying that no more easter eggs were allowed. This was because head hunters were hiring talent out of Apple.

I think they were all pretty much ripped out. Steve Jobs said no more easter eggs, and lo, the software became boring ;-)

Hidden programming things that can be invoked by typing certain things or button combinations. They are usually just credits for the programmers or pictures of the development team.

What about an "About the Finder" or "About the MacOS"

I remember seeing a screenshot of someone accessing a hidden easter egg of Apple's Think Different theme (Here's to the crazy ones...) Does that still exist? I heard how Apple eliminated all Name based eggs, but surely there's some others?

That was in the Developer Previews. Maybe it was still in Public Beta, but I'm quite sure that it has since been removed.

Even though Easter eggs make programs bigger and all that comes along with that, I do misst them. They really do add personality to the programs.

The think different theme was in DP3, in DP4 it was away. However, the only easter egg, which is not meant to be one: type bill gates in the terminal, hehe

What is that one? That it does the spell-check and returns:

[localhost:~] ethorteran% bill gates

OK? kill gates? yes
kill: Arguments should be jobs or process id's.
[localhost:~] ethorteran%

Wow. So funny. Is that it or am I in the wrong shell?
