Wow. This is kinda weird. What happened to the post?
-------
NewsFlash: WP and UPN to disappear. Tens of people take note.

So what happens when two crap stations, each with maybe one good show, combine their stuff? You get a new crap channel with maybe two good shows.
-------

And some how it got doubled. And I can't fix the typo in the title. shiznit!

That would be two more good shows than most of the other networks have.

The only thing I ever watched on UPN was Voyager. On the WB, I watched Gilmore Girls and Everwood with my wife, and also like Smallville. But all the WB ones just lost my interest at about season three. Meh. I felt like I could write for Smallville given the pretty consistent formula they used.

See what happens when you cancel a Star Trek series, even one that not many people like? They "merge" you with "the WB." What a fate!

I don't think any stations will stop programming, but they won't be getting the same stuff they used to have, so since Jepoardy is sindicated and not a network program, you should be ok, Albert.

The only real use I ever had for the WB was "Animaniacs" and really the only reason I ever paid any attention to UPN was Star Trek, so I'm not one of those "tens of people" who'll take much note.

buffy and angel were on WB (and then UPN). Once buffy was gone, and Enterprise started sucking, I don't think I watched UPN ever. Still watch Gilmore Girls and a few things on the wb.

If I had to watch 1 hour of that crap a week, I would be begging for my head to explode.

No way I care if both channels go away. My girlfriend on the other hand watches WB a lot.

Smallville and Gilmore Girls are the only shows I'd miss. But, they're two of the most popular shows on the WB so I'm sure they'll make it.

I used to watch Voyager on UPN. I used to watch Gilmore Girls and Everwood with the wife but also enjoyed Smallville on WB. But each of them got a little boring after about season 2 or 3. Smallville, in particular, was so formula driven that I think any one of us could write the next script.

We got rid of our satellite subscription about a year ago. We don't get any reception with rabbit ears. The only thing I miss is the Daily Show. But I don't think that along was worth the $50/month it cost to get it. (Ok, cut the HBO, etc., and it was more like $35/month.)

It wouldn't effect me in any way if they were gone.

Gilmore Girls is one of the few shows I watch regularly. I would not care if NBC or ABC disappeared, though. Or dozens of other cable channels for that matter.

Without real cable (I gots basic) UPN and WB come in quite handy.

Apart from double Southpark episodes starting at 11:30, there is also "That 70s Show" which fills in quite nicely at some of the worst TV-viewing parts of the day.

I'd notice, but only for their syndicated shows...I really haven't a clue what else is on those stations.

So with the two channels merged, won't CBS be violating the FCC regulation that prevents one company from owning multiple local stations?

My understanding is that CBS doesn't own the stations, Tribune Co. does. CBS is only going in half on the network itself.

CBS already has duopolies in many major markets. They have their own O&O stations and own a UPN O&O in the same market. For example: The San Francisco Bay Area, CBS owns KPIX (CBS) and KBHK (UPN). Same goes for Sacramento and other markets.

Fox has a duopoly with their O&Os and several other UPN stations. For example: The New York and Los Angeles Markets.

The FCC, as I know says a company can own 2 stations as long as they are not withing the top 4 in the market. I don't know if they mean by frequency, or by ratings. And they can own many stations in the country as long as they do not exceed a percentage of national households. I believe about 40 percent.

ABC would pick up Gilmore Girls I bet, they show re-reuns on ABC Family.
