Steve Jobs appears to meet all of the criteria for being the Mahdi (the prophesied redeemer and messiah according to Islam).
* He is a desccendent of Muhammad (Steve's father is descended from the Prophet)
* According to tradition, the Mahdis father is called Abdullah. Steve's father is called Abdulfattah. Virtually the same.
* Other traditions include his first name is Muhammad (as Steve was named before he was adopted), tall, fair in complexion, and has a prominent nose.
* He has a great strength of personality - some have claimed an extraordinary forcefield surrounds him. Tradition says that he will have a similar personality as the Prophet.
* It is prophesied by Jafar al-Sadiq, that "Before the appearance of the one who will rise, peace be upon him, the people will be reprimanded for their acts of disobedience by a fire that will appear in the sky and a redness that will cover the sky. It will swallow up Baghdad, and will swallow up Kufa. Their blood will be shed and houses destroyed. Death will occur amid their people and a fear will come over the people of Iraq from which they shall have no rest."

Correct.
Ja'far didn't prophesise anything. He just said that (probably based on other literature). Ja'far is the Sixth Imam of the Twelver Shias.

Yup.
Basically "all" Muslims expect Mehdi to come before the End of Times but in Shia Islam it's a bit more "prominent" belief.
