Cool! I want one so bad! I love it, since red is my favorite color. Not available in store yet!

Apple iPod nano (red)

Wouldn't that red look cool on a MacBook Pro?

Its on the apple.com front page now, but only on the American site, no mention of it in the UK, shame, it looks cool, better than the pink/blue/green.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Its on the UK site now, not in the UK store yet (did the US store go down for this? I didn't notice).

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I wish Apple would bring out a (PRODUCT) RED version of the MacBook/MacBook Pro in that red. WOW! I would buy one in a flash.

Remember that this is a special edition-it may not be offered for long.

And this is a great color too! I like it much better than the pastels the other 4GB Nanos are offered in. A cobalt blue Nano would be awesome!

The red is definately bold. Buy the Red iPod Nano (even as a gift) and hopefully they will expand the Red line-up.

Bono, Oprah promote new iPod to fight AIDS - CNN.com

Bono, Oprah promote new iPod to fight AIDS - CNN.com

Dozens of "(Product) Red" items will go on sale in the coming weeks by Gap Inc., Apple Computer Inc., Motorola Inc., Converse Inc. and Emporio Armani.

Portions of the product sales will go to The Global Fund, an organization that fights AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

"Some people won't put on marching boots, so we've got to get to people where they are at, and they're in the shopping malls," Bono said in a phone interview. "Now you're buying jeans and T-shirts, and you're paying for 10 women in Africa to get medication for their children with HIV."

The Gap, which will debut its Red line in stores on Friday, will donate half the profits to The Global Fund.

Apple will contribute $10 from the sale of each new red-colored iPod nano. The model, priced the same as its $199 cousins, goes on sale Friday.

I would rather buy a Zune and donate $10 to charity than support Bono.

According to Apple Vice President of Hardware Product Marketing Greg Joswiak:

Joswiak noted that Apple’s and (RED)’s goals are to create a “sustaining revenue and increased awareness” through the (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition campaign, and Apple has “not set any end date” for the product. The company will produce as many Special Edition red nanos as consumers demand, with availability beginning today.

How does this "support" Bono. Sure, it "supports" his HIV/AIDS charity that directly donates its proceeds to The Global Fund to fight the disease in women and children in Africa. I fail to see how Bono derives a direct benefit from this cause.

But hey, if you want to spend $249 on a lame media player with no Mac support, no PlaysForSure support, and is made by Microsoft (assuming you have no problems "supporting" Microsoft), and then spend $10 more towards charity -- good for you.

I'm glad to see that "special edition" again does not mean "limited time," as with the U2 iPods.

And if the Pope, the Dali Lama, and three French nuns came out to support this, it still wouldn't mean the charity supported THEM. Forget Bono and Oprah, support AIDS awareness and treatment in Africa!

(If I hadn't just bought a black Nano (litterally a month ago), I'd be all over this!)

is the iPod actually that color (burnt-orange) or is the picture off? (does your iPod actually have the same red color as the photos)

The burnt-orange is not bad either and it's a fall color (may have a rarity there!)

No, it like you see in the pictures. (It's the MacBook's iSight that changes the color)

I cannot believe that people would knock Bono regarding his wonderful work for people that are less fortunate than most of us. How incredibly sad IMO... I applaud him and Oprah, because they are both very visible celebrities and can help make a change in this world for the better. I never watch Oprah, but today I did to see all the (PRODUCT) RED stuff.

Just think... If Apple sells millions of these in the next quarter and beyond, that is a LOT of money for the AIDS cause. iPods have been selling quite well, so it is not unrealistic to expect Apple to sell millions of the red iPod nano.

I like the red color so much, I purchased two of them with engraving. I am certainly glad I waited to purchase an iPod, because I was going to get the blue one. One is an anniversary present for my wife in December, and the other one is for myself. This will be my first iPod, but I have been a Mac user for years. Same for my wife... Also, I am getting her a new iMac to complete the anniversary present.

I got a couple e-mails from Apple for the two red iPod nanos I ordered. They were sent tomorrow (the 14th) from Shenzhen, China. That was fast! I will have them both on Wednesday! Woohoo! Must find a place to hide them until December...

Ditto. I was going to get a blue nano after my 4G iPod 20GB burned out, but after the red iPod came out I jumped at the chance! The only iPod ever made with my fav color. (my last colored iPod was a blue mini [the next best thing after red IMHO].)

What can I say, bono is nothing more than a guy Madonna, he is a media darling and hops on any bandwagon to get his kisser on the TV, magazine cover, whatever, his ego is disgusting.

Boy.. in 2005, I bought and sold the iPod shuffle, iPod mini (free w/new Mac purchase), iPod nano, and video iPod. 2006, I got myself the enhanced video iPod and now the red iPod nano. *Thinking about the new iPod shuffle too*. My first iPod (10GB, touch-wheel, 2002) is still working.

Dude, you are an idiot. 99.9% of the time he is in the media, he is trying to raise awareness for AIDS and poverty in Africa. He is probably one of the most reclusive and private celebs out there. "His ego is disgusting"? Pleeeeaaaaase.
