My MBP seems to have developed the unfortunate habit of waking up at the slightest mouse movement. I set the machine to sleep and wakes up with even the smallest vibration - with a laser mouse a nanometers of movement seems to suffice. I'm quite certain it's the mouse that wakes it, since if I either unplug the mouse or turn it off (it's wireless w/ a dongle), I don't have an issue. Likewise if I touch the trackpad, that doesn't wake it either.

I have the Kensington PilotMouse Laser wirelss, with 10.4.8 and Mouseworks 3.0b2 installed. I also know it's not the mouse specifically, since other mice (both a Kensington Optical Elite wired and my dad's stock Dell USB mouse) wake it as well. So it must be somewhere in OS X or the MBP itself.

Any thoughts?

Btw, an uninstall of Mouseworks did nothing.

It's USB. USB devices like mice and keyboards are monitored for activity to tell the computer to wake up.

I'm aware, but so long as the mouse in plugged in and on I can't the computer to sleep for more than a few seconds.

I didn't have this problem a few weeks ago (if that).

Some devices are more sensitive than others. There's not much you can do other than unplug the device.

Actually it seems the issue doesn't even involve movement at this piont - if a mouse is plugged in the computer won't sleep - period. That CAN'T be normal.
