The Sarah Silverman Program is really funny!

Watch it if & when you can on Thursday nights at 10:30 on Comedy Central.

On the West Coast they are going to replay it at midnight (appx 15 minutes from now).

"Like he'd really be interested in a sex addict with a tiny vagina..."
What Sarah Silverman said when the cop showed an interest in dating her sister. Oh, and she said it TO her sister.

Tiny Giny.

They make shoehorns for that.

I had a HUGE crush on Sarah back when she was on SNL.

Wow, I don't remember her being on SNL. Was it one of the seasons of the Damned?

I'm sorry but I simply don't find her funny. I tried but I couldn't make it through more than 10 minutes.

Or rather I think she can be very funny, at times, but in the show the humor is so camp/obvious/over the top that I couldn't get into it.

It's funny because I'm usually pretty good at enjoying any old comedy on some level - and it's not like she's shocking or offending me.

Yea it was ok.... I've seen her funnier. The whole "poo" and "dick" jokes need to go though.

I don't find Silverman very funny. Most of what I've seen her do caters to the South Park crowd. Waste of time.

The Sarah Silverman Program (2007)

ALL FOR NAUGHTY Silverman (pictured with Brian Posehn) launches a clever new sitcom that's as funny as it is nasty

Start Date: Feb 01, 2007; Genre: Comedy; With: Sarah Silverman
A-
Daniel Fierman is a staff writer for EW

With Sarah Silverman, it's just a matter of time before things get dirty. But by way of introducing herself to viewers of Comedy Central, she starts slow. We meet her gay neighbors. Her eternally patient sister. Her dog. It's enough to make you wonder what the hell happened to the woman who in The Aristocrats accused geriatric TV host Joe Franklin of raping her. (It played like high comedy. Trust us.) But before long, she treats her audience to a cheerful comparison between her sister's nether regions and Cat Stevens' face. Or has sex with God — who, in Silverman's telling, talks dirty and is so needy that he has to be kicked out of bed. And that's not even touching the extended lyrical ode to a fart gone awry.

Yep. That's our girl. Silverman's game should be familiar to most comedy fans by now: She tilts her impish face toward the camera, widens her huge brown eyes, and then — in the tiniest of little-girl voices — unleashes a torrent of vicious and uproarious filth. The Sarah Silverman Program, her new half-hour show (premiering Feb. 1), is more or less just a miniaturized version of her 2005 movie Jesus Is Magic — featuring wan plots that serve as carriers for savage cultural observations, tiresome musical numbers, random sketches, and smart-bomb one-liners. (The first episode, for example, concerns a quest for batteries.) But where her movie overstayed its welcome, the quick-shot format of TV works beautifully. The result is haphazard, amoral, ridiculous, wildly offensive...and, you know, totally hilarious. A-

I've seen commercials for this. It looked like it's supposed to be funny because she's being edgy or dirty. Meh.

She is certainly willing to risk dirty edginess or edgy dirtiness but she's pretty sharp, too and I enjoy watching her comedic decision making. She's no "one trick pony." I can see why Kimmel fell for her. She's the brilliantly funny one in the relationship.

It's not really edgy or dirty as much as it is juvenile. It would make middle school kids laugh.

Yeah I like the gal, and have seen her a lot funnier. She was great on crank yankers.

So far I don't like this.

Yeah, I also think it was not very good, but I'll give the next 5 episodes a chance. I like that she casted her real sister as her sister, and a few things were funny in the pilot. If you were disappointed by it but you're still willing to give her comedy a chance, I'd recommend Jesus is Magic.

NIce elitism there.
Being in debt and celebrating a lower deficit is like being on a diet and celebrating the fact you gained two pounds this week instead of five.

I haven't gotten around to seeing it yet. Dunno about the humor, but she's pretty cute, so I'm sure I'll end up watching a few episodes.

I wouldn't call it elitism, I'd call it an accurate assessment.

I will TiVo this show and see if I think it's funny. I think I remember reading she was dating Jimmy Kimmell. Is this true?

Yes. This is from Friday, February 14, 2003

No Valentine for Mrs. Jimmy Kimmel

One of the worst kept "open secrets" in Hollywood these days is the relationship status of Jimmy Kimmel. The host of ABC's newest late night show left his wife of 14 years, Gina, last September for tough-as-nuts comedienne Sarah Silverman. The pair had worked together for years on the stand-up circuit and Comedy Central shows. Howard Stern made the announcement in September, as did the Daily News.

But wait: Kimmel was still on Comedy Central then hosting Win Ben Stein's Money. He wasn't with ABC yet. Back then his bio listed Gina and their two kids, ages 9 and 7. Since he's come to the network, there's been nary a whisper about Silverman, Gina, or the kids.

Last week I ran into a close friend of Silverman's. He said, "She's always talking about her boyfriend, but she says she's really not supposed to be talking about her boyfriend."

Silverman and Kimmel must have a pretty lively romance. At the Friars Club roast in September 2001, she cracked about him: "Jimmy Kimmel everyone, he's fat and has no charisma. Watch your back, Danny Aiello!"

Well, that's Hollywood, isn't it? When Stern announced that Kimmel and Silverman were a pair he also said that Kimmel had been separated for about six months. But in September, the Kimmels were involved in a big Italian festival in their neighborhood. They were also featured on one of those "home" shows on HGTV. The latter may have been the kiss of death since recently former Time Warner chairman Gerald Levin and his wife Barbara were featured in a shelter magazine with their new home. They, too, have split.

I like SS, but I didn't find the show to be particularly rewarding. Sure, there are some moments, and most of them make the promo spots (the "tiny vagina" bit.)

Kind of a let-down, really. Not likely to be something I'll wait for every week.

I had this meaning in mind.

Dispute resolution in normal relationships by the offer of friendly gestures and overtures.
Ok. So can I post information which was intended as a friendly gesture in the first place without worrying you will criticize me for not having further obliged you by correctly guessing how much or how little the perfect amount would be for your needs?

Or will you simply read as much as suits your interest and then move on like regular folks?

If you choose the latter then I will be glad to let bygones be bygones. I'd hate to remind you of your least favorite author, D.S. Troyer.

Do I find her to be HOT? No. Would I hit it? Probably. Do I find her to be someone I'd enjoy being around? Hmmm, I don't know. Do I like her show? YES!

The show did feature full-frontal Jew-dity.

My fav part was when she was hugging her sister at the end and mouthed to the cop "I'm going to f***ing kill you."

so I started watching it... but I was really dissapointed... it was to scatered and random... and childish.

I've listened to a couple of her standup acts, and they were funny, but this episode wasn't....

So did you watch it all?

If you did then you'll probably not have to watch it again. But if you didn't watch it all your sense of balance will be slightly off until you give yourself a real chance to know if you hate it or not.

I started watching it and I hated the singing part. It was done well enough, I just don't like that kind of stuff. But I watched the whole thing and found it wasn't all just singing.
