Just got my iPod all set up and i noticed that many of my tracks dont work....

I have a couple of audio books that i encoded in iTunes with mono tracks [no need to waste space for silly audio books]. They play GREAT under iTunes, but they will not play on my iPod.....

Has anyone else had this sort of problem with their iPod's??? Is there any quick fix??? [There is no WAY i an re-encoding them all to stereo- and thus waste More space]

Thanks!

ps: my specs: iPod firmware 1.0.4, Powerbook G4 550, iTunes 2.0.3

Today, i noticed the same on my ipod, when a mono track is playing (lots of oldies encoded from AAD cd's) the only thing i get is a loud noise. On Apple's site, nothing says you can't play mono tracks, so it must be the encoding. Is there another solution, i.e. setting the tracks to stereo?

Actually i found the solution at another forums site...

iPod's that shipped with ipod firmware 1.0.4 [ie all the newest iPods] had some sort of problems with MONO encoded songs...

The solution is to download the 1.0.4 updater and run it on the iPod... this fixxes up all problems and makes those mono tracks playable...
