I may not be a part of the UI tweaking crowd anymore, but I did have my share of Kaleidoscope schemes back in the day. One of my goals back then was to create a scheme as usable as Apple's platinum interface. Let me tell you, this is no easy task. Having seen and used tons of schemes/themes since then, it's easy to say that almost none of them can match Platinum/Aqua's long term usability and consistency. Sure there are a lot of nice looking themes, but after a while of real world use, most of them lose their charm. except one..
BRUSHED!
Simple enough to get out of your way when you're working, but elegant enough to make you thankful it's there. I'm not making this thread based on first impression either. I've been using this theme for years, literally. It's the only theme that I have been able to seriously use longer than a month. When I got my MacPro and saw Aqua, it just looked strange to me. It'd been so long since I'd seen it. One of the first things I did was get Shapeshifter and my beloved Brushed on there.
I can't say enough about this theme so I thought I'd just pay homage to it here, and thank Max Rudberg for making me hate Aqua and never want to go back.

I agree. Brushed is a nice theme, and with so many varieties of subthemes in it.
I got to try out serious tweaking with that one, and ended up with one with the metal greenish, one purple, one gold, one silver, one brass. I really like the dark menus.

Yes, I can't go without black menus anymore.
