A friend of mine linked me to this article about Wes Anderson and his ''oriental'' castings. I have mixed emotions on the subject because....so what if his movies have exotic minorities used as muses to his main characters? Is that a really big deal?

Also, theoretically speaking....would you support a director/filmmaker who's personl beliefs /actions conflicted with your morals/values? Great example of this would be Roman Polanski. What are your thoughts?

Wes Anderson a racist? I don't think so. I think his characters are somewhat wacky and absurd (especially in Rushmore), and I think one could be confused if they only see that in relation to his minority characters. Most times, his minority characters are the most level headed and sophisticated characters in his movies. I'm not sure I understand why one would peg him as a racist.

Roman Polanski makes excellent movies. So does Mel Gibson.
Personally, I don't care who makes the movie as long as it's good.

I don't care who directs a movie (unless it's that prat who did Bourne 2&3) but I won't watch one if it's got certain people in it. For example, the Sevigny whore.

I'm a (mostly) conservative Christian Republican, so I don't really have a choice on this one. Nearly every movie I've ever seen is written by, directed by, and casted with people I inherently disagree with.

My thoughts exactly, every race has bottom feeders.
