I have a 79 minutes DVD project made on IDVD 2 over MAC OS X 10.1 the burning
process is taking around 14 minutes but at the end of the burning process I am
getting this error message

Errors Found
The recording device reported the illegal request
buffer underrun (0X21, 0x02.)

The DVD media is operational but it lacks the last 49 seconds of the file

Does anyone know how to avoid this?

Buffer underun is when the burner is asking for data quicker than the HD can supply. I know little about burning DVDs but if possible burn at a slower speed to ensure that the HD can supply data to the burner fast enough.

Also what machine are you running? Did you allot a heap of RAM to iDVD 2 (may not solve problem but it couldn't hurt)? Also you HD may be very fragmented which causes such underruns.

Just supply a bit more info, since a new G4 with a superdrive should have ample HD data transfer to feed the burner.

I havent seen in the software the possibility of burning at a lower speed

A G4 with Mac OS X 10.1 with a super drive 256 MB RAM 60 GB HD

Thank you for answering I thought that and that is why I am amazed the machine is not doing what the company says will do actually I bought it just fr the DVD burning capability
