Just bought a new G4 466. First time switching on and it freezes on startup, after a few extension icons are displayed!
The problem appears to be "ATI Resource Manager" - if I remove that from extensions, everything works OK.
I've tried system restore, and did a completely clean re-install from an initialized hard disk, but the problem's still there.
Can someone tell me what's going on? Is it just a faulty ATI Resource Manager (in which case, where can I get a new one?) or is there something else wrong?
Thanks for any help
Steve

Try searching http://asu.info.apple.com for updaters to the ATi drivers.
More importnatly, do you have a Radeon or a Rage?
If you have a Rage, remove the Radeon extension.

Thanks for the tips.
The only updates I could find for ATI drivers were out of date (they would only work for 9.0.4). The ATI Resource Manager I have is 2.8.7.
I've removed the Radeon extension, but it's definitely Resource Manager that's causing the problem.
Anyone else have any ideas?

I fail to understand why, but my past 2 Macs that came preloaded with the OS had buggy problems kind of like what you are describing.
The best thing to do in my opinion is to do a clean install of the OS. Once you've done that, trash your "Previous System Folder." Now check the Software Update control panel for new updates that came out after your G4 shipped. Install whatever is there, and reboot.
That normally cures all my problems, whatever they are.

Download and install OpenGL 1.2.1. It has the latest ATI drivers.
