Anyone know for sure the right way to zap PRAM? Command + Option +PR how many times? I've heard anywhere from one to seven times.

Remember, Windows is just DOS in a clown face.

3 times for the paranoid. I've never zapped it and had to wait for more than 2. One time, cmd+opt+p+r, second time, let it start normally.
YMMV

I always zap it depending on how bad the problem is. If it's a bad problem, I zap it more. I know it's funny, but that's just what I do. I used to be an Apple tech...I would say 3 or 4 times.
