Hello,
Can you import video from the AV jacks on a PowerMac 8600 using iMovie 2 software? If so, how? If not, what good options are there for importing video at the highest possible quality level on the same PM 8600. Thanks

You can't import video via the A/V jacks using iMovie. iMovie only recognizes import from a firewire port (now, you could buy a firewire PCI card and import video using iMovie then, but it does require you to have a DV camera). You could edit the footage with iMovie once you've imported it tho'.
The was an old application called Apple Video Player (I think) that could record video input from A/V ports. Might be on some old system CDs you have...

I have a 7500, with a PCI USB/Firewire Card. iMovie does work in this combination. Unfortunately, the slow bus prevents the computer from capturing not more than six seconds of video. Then, a dialog box crops up and says that the computer can't capture the stream of video coming from the camcorder. I've downloaded an update to iMovie2 but haven't tried it to see if it makes any difference.
