Well, I wouldn't call it quieter. It just sounds completely different. The sound is.. cleaner, I guess. It sounds more fan-ish.

I always thought the G3 iBook fan sounded really suspicious.

I just bought more memory for my new iBook G4 (excellent machine, by the way). However, I got a 333 MHz RAM instead of a 266 MHz (512 MB). The RAM works fine though, at least so far....
