don't spend a whole lot on it. for the price of a good cpu upgrade, you're nearing the price of a refurb intel mac mini that would run circles around your G4 in almost everything.

i have somewhat of a pessimistic view of the whole upgrade path since i spent almost $800 upgrading a G4 533 to dual 1.8s, 9800 pro, etc etc, only to find out i could have easily bought a new iMac for the total cost of the project. Don't get me wrong, it was a great machine once it was upgraded, but i would much rather have had an iMac...

I would go for more RAM. Your graphics card is fine, but more RAM should help. Get at least 1Gb. If you can find a CPU upgrade, then get one of those. Sometimes you can get something like 1.4GHz for $100.

Invest in a Mac Pro (or an intel iMac)

If you are upgrading to Tiger and put iLife '06 on it, more RAM and/or storage is essential. However, the 168 Pin PC100/133 RAM module isn't that cheap.

Faster hard drive would help. I'd recommend an 80 gig western digital with the 8 meg cache.

better yet, a HD with a 16mb cache, or even better, go to for an SATA controller & HD.......

and yea, mAxDaRaM too

If ya really wanna go for a cpu upgrade, look on ebay for a DUAL processor card. They make a world of difference in OS X, and should hold you over for a yr or so for reasonable $$.

I took a friend's otherwise maxed out Sawtooth from a single 400 to a dual 500 and it was like nite & day difference with tiger!
Personally I find it hilarious that you have the hots for my gramma. Especially seeins how she is 3x your age, and makes your Brittney-Spears-wannabe 30-something wife look like a rag doll who went thru WWIII with a burning stick of dynamite up her a** :)

If you go with upgrading CPU use giga instead of Powerlogix because it's a pain to install the srews and the fans is noisy. I reused the oem fan;go figure! Upgrading everything make more sense ie CPU,ram and HD. Max it all! You will see the marked difference! Video card is the other upgrade. But if you are not in to intense graphics stick with the oem 64 mb ram V card you have. You can extend the the life of the PM for few more years. I predict the G4 will be around for quite some time because of the upgadeability. Now "If they can find some way to port windoze to osx using PCI card", hmmm. STill have my Daystar PCI mac-win only works in os9:<
It's "Brewed" not "Juiced"
