Nice. That criminal could easily imagine himself getting impaled or losing a hand or leg to a crazy sword-wielding home defender. Psychologically, probably more effective than a gun in this case.
Maybe I'll have to add a sword to my home defense portfolio.

It seems like a dangerous strategy. If the burglar has a gun, you just went from getting robbed to possibly getting killed.
If you're going to pull a weapon, why not make it the most effective weapon possible?

I think swords are too accessible in America.
Please, someone, take this post seriously.

That's probably all he had being a kid. But you're right - I'd whip out a hand cannon on that guy and blow him a new air hole.

Seriously though, I've thought about this exact scenario in the past: a sword is going to have a MUCH more effective psychological effect on a baddie than a gun. We see guns all the time on TV, in the news, etc. But swords? Freaky.
Of course, if they have a gun, you're f*cked...

Personally, I'd like a gatling gun set up behind the breakfast bar of my kitchen. It would kind of give me that Zanzibar defense setup.*
There's your Halo 2 reference, right there!
It's true that a crazed wild-eyed home-owner waving a samurai sword would scare the crap out of anyone, especially if the home-owner is scared themselves, which would make them seem even crazier.

I'd just keep a ninja, attached to another another ninja to create a super-ninja.

When police arrived, a K-9 officer located the burglar hiding behind a neighbor's palm tree.
WTF? Do Americans really spell canine like that, or are they using robot dogs now?

So we need a swordgun. Or a gunsword.

At least he didn't tie him up and force him to watch the Secret Garden. The kid would have been prosecuted for Cruel and Unusual punishment.

It's an identifier. Like SWAT or CSI.

This is just a wild guess, but I 'spose K-9 is easier to print on cop cars instead of the whole freakin' word.

I think its more of "WTF? People in other countries put the whole word on their portal cars?"

Most burglars do not have a gun.
